How to Order a Custom Peptide

Prepare your sequence, quantity, purity and modification requirements for a custom peptide synthesis quotation.

Need a peptide made to your specified amino acid sequence? A custom peptide synthesis enquiry starts with the sequence and the material you want supplied. This guide helps you prepare the information for a BIC Biotech quotation.

Custom peptides or catalogue peptides?

A custom peptide is requested against a specified sequence and project requirements. A catalogue peptide is a named entry in an existing catalogue. If you already have a sequence, begin with custom peptide synthesis. If you are looking for a listed named peptide, check the catalogue peptides directory.

You do not need to know every synthesis term to start an enquiry. Share the sequence and describe your project. If a requirement is undecided, identify it as a question for the team.

Information needed for a peptide synthesis quotation

  • Amino acid sequence: Provide the exact sequence, preferably written from the N-terminus to the C-terminus. Identify any non-standard residues explicitly.
  • Quantity: State the requested amount and its units for each peptide.
  • Purity: Give your requested purity or ask which information is needed to discuss it. A requested value is a quotation requirement, not a confirmed offer.
  • Peptide format: State whether you require a linear, cyclic, branched or other listed format, with the intended linkage details if known.
  • Modifications and labels: Identify the modification, its position and the required label or conjugate.
  • Documentation: State which analytical records you need.
  • Organisation and destination: Include your contact details and delivery location.

Choose a peptide format and describe the structure

The BIC page lists linear peptides, including peptide acids, amides and alcohols; cyclic and constrained peptides; branched peptides; cyclotides; cystine knots; depsipeptides; and other peptide formats. A format name alone may not specify the full structure. Include the sequence and the intended connections or terminal groups.

For peptide libraries or multiantigenic peptides (MAPs), describe the required sequences or arrangement. For D-amino acids, unnatural amino acids or stable isotope labels, identify the residues and positions. The team can then discuss the exact requirement and feasibility.

Specify peptide modifications, labelling and conjugation

These terms describe different parts of an enquiry. A modification changes a specified feature of the peptide; labelling adds a selected label; conjugation connects the peptide to a requested partner. State the requested chemistry and position so the intended product is clear.

The BIC capabilities page lists terminal and internal modifications, including acetylation, amidation, methylation and biotin options. Its labelling list includes FITC, Cy5, 5-FAM-related options and other named labels. For a fluorescent peptide or a FRET peptide, specify the label or label pair and attachment positions.

For peptide-protein conjugation, the listed carriers include KLH, BSA and OVA. Give the required partner and any attachment instructions. For DOTA-, NOTA- or Hynic-labelled peptides, specify the requested label explicitly. Refer to the product page for the complete BIC-supplied list.

Peptide purity and analytical documentation

Tell the team your purity requirement and ask which analytical documentation will accompany the proposed material. The existing BIC policy states that every peptide is supplied with a Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Peptides with purity levels equal to or greater than 90% are also supplied with a mass spectrum and analytical HPLC profile.

If you need a particular report or analysis, include it in the enquiry. Do not assume that every requested analytical method or purity is available for every sequence.

A checklist for ordering a custom peptide

Include these details in your enquiry

  • Organisation and contact person
  • Sequence for each peptide
  • Requested quantity and purity
  • Terminal groups, modifications and their positions
  • Labels, conjugation partners or structural links
  • Required documentation
  • Delivery location and any questions

If you are comparing peptide synthesis providers in India, use the same clearly specified requirement for each enquiry. Confirm what material and documentation the quotation covers.

Common custom peptide ordering questions

Can I order a peptide with my own sequence?

Send the sequence and your requirements to BIC Biotech for a custom synthesis enquiry. The team will discuss feasibility and quotation details.

Can I request a cyclic, modified or labelled peptide?

The product page lists these capabilities. Provide the sequence and exact structural or labelling requirements so the team can assess the project.

What if I do not know which purity to request?

Describe your project and ask the team what further information is needed. The specification should be agreed for the particular enquiry.

Where can I find the full list of BIC peptide capabilities?

Visit the Custom Peptide Synthesis page for listed formats, modifications, labels, conjugation partners and documentation information.
